Book Review | The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas
Lina's sister is getting married.
And the bachelorette needs a wedding date, like yesterday! Cue Aaron Blackford. Clark Kent look-alike with one scow too many, on Lina's 'oh hell no list' and much to Lina’s annoyance, the only viable option. What is one to do? Well, with the clock ticking and no other options on the table, Lina reluctantly accepts Aaron's offer.
What could possibly go wrong? Well, for starters, Lina Martin and Aaron Blackford do not see eye to eye. In fact, one might say that they are enemies. However, little do they know, the pair have more in common than just being co-workers that despise each other. They are both incredibly stubborn; they love a fish taco or 5, and most importantly, what truly lies beneath their 'enemies' front is far from hatred. It just takes a trip to Spain for a family wedding to figure out the latter.
What follows is precisely what they say about TSLD, a slow burn, enemy-to-lovers, hot and steamy DELICIOUS MORSEL of a debut novel.
Yes, the main character is stubborn as one can be, and sure, sometimes you might want to strangle her. But this is Lina Martin we’re talking about, the badass protagonist you need in your life. Readers are surely rooting – albeit green with envy - for her to wake up and realize that Aaron has been swooning over her since day one. It's such a relief when she finally pieces the puzzle together.
Armas has definitely made her mark on the romance writing world. This originally self-published novel has taken the world by storm and it’s easy to see why. The Spanish Love Deception is rich with saucy scenes, great humour and a developing love story that you can't help but enjoy. Plus, we get to take a little trip to Spain. What more could you want?
Bring on September so we can get our hands on 'The American Roommate Experiment'. Let's see if Rosie and Lucas will live up to the beloved Aaron-Lina.
